It is our great pleasure today to release "Eye to Eye," Astronauts, etc.'s latest single from the band's debut full-length album, Mind Out Wandering.
"With 'Eye to Eye' I tried stripping the 'pop song' down to its essential parts and then reconstructing it as succinctly as possible," band leader Anthony Ferraro says. "One vocal melody covering both verse and chorus. One guitar riff. One perpetual drum beat. Economy pop."
Mind Out Wandering will be released Sept. 18 and includes previously released tracks "I Know" and "No Justice". The 10-song LP was recorded live to tape at San Francisco's Tiny Telephone recording studio. The vinyl is a pure-analog artifact, never having run through any digital processing.
Pre-sale is available now on black vinyl, limited-edition yellow-colored 180-gram vinyl, and digitally.
"Lyrically, this album is a loose, sometimes free-associated journal of a very strange year," Anthony told The FADER, which premiered "Eye to Eye" on Monday. "Musically, it's a leap away from the home-recorded sound of past material and a foundation that the band and I can take in any direction. I wanted to establish a pattern of exploring somewhere completely new with each record, and to find listeners that were comfortable going there with us."
